In early 2015 I was asked by Mondo to write the liner notes for their release of David Wingo‘s score for the film ‘Mud.’ I was given access to the composer for an interview, and to round out the piece I reached out to the film’s screenwriter and director Jeff Nichols for an interview as well.
The artwork was created by Israeli illustrator Tomer Hanuka with additional design and layout by Jay Shaw.

In 2014 I flew to Chicago to attend artist Rob Jones‘ solo show ‘Grief‘ at Galerie F. At that point I had met Jones a few times during my trips to Austin for events at the Mondo Galleryand was excited to see a gallery full of his own work.
‘Grief‘ was over 100 self-portraits with Jones working his way through a life of embarrassments, disappointments, and the private shames of growing up. I reached out to Jones to discuss the show and his turn as art director to fine artist, and in June 2015 the interview was published on the Print Magazine website.
In early March 2015 I flew to Austin, Texas for the opening night of ‘Eyes Without A Face,’ a gallery show of new works from painter Jason Edmiston hosted by Mondo. The show was gallery’s first show of all original works with no prints available of any of the artwork. Edmiston created over 100 portraits, each focused on the eyeline of a major player in pop culture history.
A few days before he was set to fly to Austin and prep the show, Edmiston took the time to chat with me over the phone for an interview that covered the show, the importance of caring for your fans, and his recent collaborations with artists Mike Mitchell, Jock, and Daniel Danger.

Hollywood VFX designer Ash Thorp recently released a series of giclee prints titled ‘The Epoch.’ There’s four in the series with the possibility of more to follow.
The prints are being released by Thorp in conjunction with Evil Tender Dot Com. My role in the release is to handle the production, shipping, and customer support. ‘The Epoch‘ is an incredible set of work that I have written about on ETDC HEREas well as an interview you can reach HERE.
The Ash Thorp store was developed by Adam Brewer of Brewer Logic.
I wrote a book. ‘Youth in the City: Various Small Fictions‘ is a collection of short stories and vignettes written during my years in San Francisco. The book is 60+ or 80+ pages depending on format, digital or paper. The original working papers are close to 1,000. Did quite a bit of editing.

In early 2015 Mondo continued their incredible list of film soundtracks with composer Jay Chattaway’s score for the 1990 film ‘Maniac Cop 2.’
My task was to interview Chattaway for the liner notes about the film and his relationship with the film’s writer / director William Lustig.
Chattaway is a Hollywood veteran whose work is most recognized in the television universe of the ‘Star Trek’ franchise, but I’m still a sucker for his work in the 1985 film adaptation of Stephen King’s ‘Silver Bullet.’
